About Joan
Isabelle Huppert stars as a woman revisiting memories and secrets when her first love unexpectedly comes back into her life.
Director: Laurent Larivière
Overview
Joan Verra has always been independent, in love, free-spirited, and adventurous. When her first love unexpectedly comes back into her life after years of absence, she decides not to tell him that they have a son. This unspoken truth gives her the opportunity to look back at her life: her youth in Ireland, her successful career, her loves, and her relationship with her son. A full life in appearance, but one that hides a secret she will eventually have to face…
In this novel-like second feature film, Laurent Larivière takes the audience through three different periods of time. Freya Mavor and Isabelle Huppert share the remarkable role of Joan. Bright and spirited, they show us the necessity and the healing power of fiction.
