Overview
Directed by Hollywood journeyman Robert Wise, The Andromeda Strain is a big-budget blockbuster adaptation of Michael Crichton’s acclaimed sci-fi novel which follows a team of top scientists investigating a lethal bacterium from outer space that causes terminal blood clotting.
With a cast of character actor stalwarts (including Arthur Hill, James Olson and George Mitchell), typically superb special effects from Douglas Trumbull (Silent Running, 2001: A Space Odyssey), and a suspenseful climax, The Andromeda Strain is one of the big-hitters of its era and genre.
