Eternal Beauty
Sally Hawkins gives a standout performance as a fragile young woman in Craig Roberts’ humane depiction of mental illness.
Director: Craig Roberts
Overview
Jilted as a young woman on her wedding day and beset with anxieties both real and imaginary, June lives life as a constant struggle. Pills offer a possible solution; her relationship with vagrant musician Mike might be another. But does the medication – or even love – simply exacerbate June’s delusional state of mind? Craig Roberts’ singular, humane film depicts the unstable perceptions of a fragile persona with delirious colour and design and ever-shifting time frames; it also boasts a stand-out lead performance by Sally Hawkins.
Eternal Beauty is supported by the BFI using funds from the National Lottery.
