We Went to Wonderland
British-Chinese filmmaker Xiaolu Guo follows her ageing parents' journey to the West as they visit Europe. A rare chance to see one of Guo’s most personal films.
Director: Xiaolu Guo
Overview
British-Chinese filmmaker Xiaolu Guo follows her ageing parents' journey to the West, as they visit Europe for the first, and possibly final, time. Her father wants to see the whole world before he dies, but her mother longs for home. Guo’s insightful documentary is a playful rumination on the nature of changing China, globalisation and the experience of Chinese diaspora communities. This is a rare chance to see one of Guo’s most personal films, unavailable on DVD.
