Eden
Mia Hansen-Løve’s stylish and transcendent story of house music is one of the great films about dance culture.
Director: Mia Hansen-Løve
Overview
For her fourth feature Mia Hansen-Løve (Goodbye First Love) tackles an under-represented era of French culture, the 1990s flowering of the Parisian house music scene. Following the rise of a student (Félix de Givry) whose obsession with electronic music drives him to success, but also headfirst into scene’s temptations, Løve’s film is a sprawling study of an extensive world of DJs, clubbing and hedonism.
Featuring cameos from real-life players like Daft Punk, Eden is exuberant and euphoric sonic journey. For those initiated the soundtrack will raise the hairs on your arms.
