Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard star as radical environmentalists planning a sensational act of eco-terrorism, in Kelly Reichardt's taut political thriller. Compulsively following their risky scheme in meticulous detail, Night Moves charts its characters’ descent as their idealistic intentions quickly become compromised by the everyday emotions of self-doubt, regret and paranoia.
Reichardt's ambiguous, non-judgmental approach to her characters’ actions poses many provocative questions about their motivations, while her quiet and procedural presentation posits the film in the vein of the paranoid, post-Watergate thrillers of the 1970s (such as Arthur Penn’s 1975 classic of the same name). After being nominated for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, Night Moves received a gala screening at the BFI London Film Festival in 2013.
